The Rules of Bingo
There are actually many different types of online bingo, however, we’re going to focus on the three main varieties, which are 75-ball, 80-ball and 90-ball.
75-Ball Bingo
In 75-ball bingo, you’ll receive a card with 24 numbers on it. These are on a 5×5 grid, with one space left blank.
80-Ball Bingo
In this version of the game, you’ll receive a bingo card containing 16 different numbers, laid out in a 4×4 design.
90-Ball Bingo
In 90-ball bingo, you’ll receive a card that contains 27 numbers. These will be displayed on a grid containing three rows of nine numbers each.
You’ll then find that the rules of all three of these versions of bingo are pretty much the same. Numbers are selected randomly, and you’ll need to match selected numbers with those on your bingo card.
If you’re the first to complete one row, you’ll win a prize, and you’ll also win a prize if you’re first to complete two rows. The biggest prize is generally reserved for the first player to fill their entire card though.
Many bingo games also offer jackpots, so how are these won? Well, it’s generally the case that to win a jackpot, you’ll need to match all the numbers on your card within a specified number of turns. You could then win a set jackpot or a progressive jackpot. The first type has a value that remains the same, while the second type has a value that continues rising as more people play, before resetting after it has been won.
Other Bingo Variations
Of course, there are loads of other online bingo variations as well, each of which will have its own unique rules. Most are really easy to learn though, as they are based around the same premise of matching numbers on your card with the ones that are selected.
Nearly all bingo games will have a rules section, which you can read. Alternatively, you might be able to play the game for free for a while, in order to learn the rules. If there is anything you don’t understand, you can always ask one of the chat moderators to explain it to you.
Marking Your Bingo Card
Those who have played at bingo halls will understand how difficult it is to mark off multiple bingo cards, especially if the bingo caller is fast! This is not a problem in online bingo though, as the bingo cards are marked off automatically, so you can relax and wait to see if you win.
Because the cards are marked automatically, you can buy as many as you want, without having to worry about losing track of the game. By purchasing multiple cards, you’ll increase your chances of winning when you play. Of course, you’ll also increase the amount of money you spend as well though!
Etiquette When Playing
When playing bingo live in a bingo hall, there’s generally silence as the numbers are called out. If you make too much noise, you’ll almost certainly receive some angry looks. There are no rules about noise in online bingo though, so feel free to chat as much as you like!
You must remember to be respectful at all times though. Online bingo sites certainly won’t accept any racist, sexist or homophobic language. If you’re caught making comments that could offend, you will probably be banned from the site.
